Zeke_1Zeke_2FRAGMENTATION, RELIGION, AND ILLUSORY CORRELATIONS & PARCEL AFFLUENCE AND RELIGIOUS PROPERTY VALUE

These maps explore the dynamics between religion, urban development, social fragmentation, and culture. Beginning with the Old Raleigh Scale, the first map shows the locations of the 8 oldest churches in the Downtown Raleigh area immediately surrounding the Capital grounds. The New Raleigh scale map locates churches across the region and associates them through hierarchy of cost and geographic location. The parcel-based layer highlights the number of people who have moved in the last year to a given location, an attempt to visualize the role churches may or may not play in anchoring our modern culture or personal lives. The third map, at the Wake County scale, represents the value of religious property in relation to population above the poverty level. The fourth map depicts the percentage of long-term residents by ownership within Durham, Orange, and Wake counties.
