Research Cluster on Healthy Buildings

By | May 6, 2014

The College of Design has provided a seed grant to initiate an interdisciplinary research cluster on Healthy Built Environment.

The College of Design has identified “Design for Health and Sustainability” as a major research and scholarship focus area, dedicating faculty students and facilities to the building of a knowledge base accessible to all of the design profession. This research cluster enhances these efforts especially in the “Health and Design” and “Sustainable Design” sub-areas, and builds up the foundation of a research cluster on Healthy Built Environment. It provides a unique opportunity to establish a multidisciplinary platform, including researchers from architecture and Landscape Design, Biological Sciences, and Center for Human Health and Environment. In addition, it will be able to set the stage for community based participatory research by demonstrating an ongoing partnership with community partners from the local school district and design industry.
