Jonghoon Ahn
Bio
Since entering into the Department of Architecture, it has been a long journey like the Korean saying, “Ten years is an epoch”. Overnight discussions with my friends, numerous studio projects, arguments against collaborators, and delivery of goods like a war….From all of them, I have been able to experience a change of scenery, a wide range of knowledge, and a turning of my sense of values. During this period, my life has been good architecture and any kind of architecture has been my life. Needless to say, my brain and heart were full of passion for architecture, which has led me to develop into a more professional designer based on a balance of aesthetics and engineering.
Professional Practice
2002-2009: BAUM Architects, Engineers, and Consultants
2002: Korea Technical Expert of Architecture
2001: Korea Architect Engineer
Research Interests
The main target of Ph.D. research is to analyze, evaluate and design a simulated and programmable building environment which is embedded with adaptable technology facilitating energy optimization, high performance, economical productivity as well as aesthetic satisfaction. Based on scholarly and professional experience, the research is focused on generating a better environment through the pursuit of harmonization between Architecture and Engineering, from the early stage of design to the end, from the general to the specific, from the theory to the practice. Recent Researches in progress are Sustainable Models for Sports Facilities, Development of Sustainable Airport Terminal Design, Simulation Analysis of the Energy and Demand Savings Potential from Smart Metering Technology, Smart Grid Simulator, Micro-generation System for Stable Energy Supply.
