Saurabh Ray

Bio

As a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering at NC State University between Fall 2010 to Spring 2012, he was very interested in Energy Conservation and Energy System Optimization. This resulted in him working as an Energy Engineer for the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC). The IAC is a U.S. Department of Energy-funded program for helping local industries and giving the opportunity to students to be involved in Energy Audits, thus exposing them to solving many practical problems, outside the monotony of lectures and classrooms!

He also got the opportunity to work with Dr. Soolyeon Cho in BETlab on a couple of building energy-related projects such as the R2P2 Program for the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and work on a methodology for pre-screening Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) technologies for Navy sites in the U.S. in collaboration with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The latter project resulted in his Master’s thesis.

It was a wonderful experience for him as a graduate student at NCSU, enjoying almost every bit of the experience. Right now, he is working as a Product Manager in training for TE Energy, which is a part of TE Connectivity Ltd. based in Fuquay-Varina, NC. He is still living in the Raleigh, NC area.
